Shirley Ann Christiansen, 91 years of age from Minden, NE died on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at the Bethany Home in Minden. Memorial services will be on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Minden with Rev. Christopher Hazzard officiating. Visitation will be on Monday at the Layton-Craig Funeral Home in Minden from 3-5 p.m. Burial will be in the Minden Cemetery prior to the memorial service.

Shirley was born on June 13, 1924 to George and Katherine (Burg) Rupprecht and raised in the Campbell area and graduated from Campbell High School. On February 7, 1946 she married Duane Christiansen. They made their home in Minden and raised two children, Terry and Connie.

Shirley and Duane clerked many sales in and around Minden for many years. She worked for Mason's Market and later at Ben Franklin both in Minden. She was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Minden and she and Duane were custodians at the church. Shirley enjoyed bowling, collecting antiques, her roses and flowers and her family.

Survivors include son, Terry of Minden; daughter Connie Bates and husband, Lanny of Minden; two grandchildren, Jason Bates and wife, Kaci and Christi Burdette and husband, Kevin; and four great grandchildren, Braden Bates, Caileigh Burdette, Kennah Burdette and Riley Christiansen. She is preceded in death by her husband, daughter in-law, Nancy Christiansen, grandson, Tim Christiansen, three brothers and one sister.

Memorials are suggested to the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Minden, the Minden Senior Citizen Center or the Bethany Home.
