Vernon Wesley Jepsen, 71 years of age from Minden, Nebraska died on Friday, November 8, 1996 at the Kearney County Community Hospital in Minden. Vernon was born on December 3, 1924 east of Minden on the family farm to Anton and Hannah (Smith) Jepsen. He attended school at District #45. He married Sarah Frances Cooper, July 28, 1954, at the Hastings College Chapel. Vernon was involved in agriculture all his life as a farmer and a well driller. After his retirement, he was a school bus driver for several years. He was a member of the Westminster United Presbyterian Church in Minden. A memorial fund has been established.

Survivors include his wife, Sarah of Minden; 1 son, William Allen Jepsen of Fort Collins, CO; 1 daughter, Elizabeth Sue Jepsen of Anchorage, Alaska; 1 brother, Arthur Jepsen and his wife, Florence of Minden; 5 sisters, Helen Binderup of Minden, twin sister, Virginia Schmidt and her husband, Edward of Minden, Mildred Sinsel and her husband, Clarence of Minden Thelma Scheidies of Kearney and Nina Garrelts and her husband, Richard of Minden; 5 sister in-laws, Helen Whitmore of Hastings, Mabel Skjelver of Lincoln, Mary Lambrecht and her husband, Malcolm of Red Cloud, Ada Blankenbaker of Hastings and Clara Williams of Maitland, Florida; brother in-law, Richard Cooper and his wife, Nola of Aurora, NE and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parent;, two brothers, Elmer Jepsen and Norris Jepsen; 5 brother in-laws, Herman Binderup, Robert Scheidies, Hyatt Whitmore, Robert Skjelver and Owen Williams.

Funeral services will be on Tuesday, November 12, 1996 at 2:00 p.m. at the Westminster United Presbyterian Church in Minden with Dr. Terry Palmer and Reverend Russell Tompkins officiating. Burial will be in the Minden Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Layton Funeral Home in Minden from 3-8 p.m.
