Viola "Vi" J. Kemplin, 74, of Kearney, passed away on Sunday, July 21, 2019 at St. John's Good Samaritan Society in Kearney. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 27, 2019 at the Minden Cemetery with the Rev. Marcia Dorn officiating. Memorials in Vi's honor are kindly suggested to the family for later designation. Craig Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Vi was born on January 30, 1945 in Lewellen, Nebraska to Vernard and Grace (Starkey) Kemplin. The family moved to Logan County where Vi attended country school through the eighth grade. She then attended high school at Stapleton, where she graduated with the class of 1963. After high school, she worked various jobs and had her family of three boys: Doug, Darrell, and Darren. She lived in the Norfolk area and attended Central Community College where she graduated with an Associate's Degree in Electronics.
Vi lived in Lincoln a few years, then moved to Minden. She later moved to Kearney where she worked at Casey's General Store until the time of her illness.
She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Minden.
Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Doug Conarro of West Jordan, UT, Darrell (Jean) Conarro of Rice, MN; granddaughter, Matraca Conarro of Rice, MN; sisters, Erma (George) Sadler of Kearney, Catharine Hickman, and Nellie Anderson of Minden; brother, George (Joy) Kemplin of Centralia, WA; step-grandchildren, Leah Jacobs of West Valley, UT, Staci Stein of Murray, UT; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Darren in 1989, and brothers, Lee Kemplin and Donald Kemplin.
