Viola Mae Spors, 90, of Minden, passed away on Friday, March 22, 2019 at Bethany Home in Minden. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 26, 2019 at Fredericksburg Lutheran Church, south of Minden, with the Rev. Donald Hunzeker and Parish Nurse Julie Schmidt officiating. There will be no visitation as the family has honored Viola's wish to have her body donated to science. Private family interment will be held at a later date at the Fredericksburg Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials in Viola's honor are kindly suggested to Bethany Home in Minden. Craig Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Viola was born on May 24, 1928 in Hildreth, Nebraska to Jens and Bertha (Quadhamer) Hansen. She grew up and attended school in Hildreth. She graduated from Hildreth High School. On March 14, 1948, she was united in marriage to Fay Marion Spors in Hildreth and to this union, three children were born: Judy, Jack and Barbara. The family made their home in the Minden and Hildreth area where Viola enjoyed helping as a farm wife.
She was a member of the Fredericksburg Lutheran Church, Bethany Lutheran Church, the V.F.W. Auxiliary, church women's circle and she also served as the Sunday School Superintendent for many years. She enjoyed quilting, embroidery, word puzzles and reading.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Jack Spors and wife Cindy of Minden; daughters, Judy Borchers of Hays, KS, and Barb Spors of Minden; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren (with one on the way); brothers, Stanley, Henry and Harold Hansen; sisters, Elizabeth Johnson, Leona Jacobsen, Carol Jean Abramson, Mary Jane Jensen, Gladys Johnson, Edna Anderson and Rose Gilespie; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Fay; brothers, Raymond, Marvin and Ingward Hansen; sisters, Dorothy Johnson, Lily Ann Berlie and Minnie Hendrickson.
